Human Rights
Human rights either come from God (as humans are made in His image) or they come from other humans (governments, whoever is in power). If they come from God, they are inalienable, built into our nature, and self-evident. If they come from other humans, they are arbitrary and at the whims of those in power, which means they can also be removed and granted only to certain groups. Who we are as human beings lies at the heart of one of the greatest worldview dif-ferences between the Christian and the unbeliever. Are humans created in God’s image, or are they products of mindless, purposeless processes that, at bottom, is nothing but pitiless indifference (Dawkins)? What we think about where we come from speaks volumes about what we think we are.
