Sovereignty Of God
He may be the most arrogant leader ever -the narcissistic Nebuchadnezzar. He cared about one thing: self and legacy.
"Just look at this great city...I by my own mighty power have built...as an expression of my royal splendor..." Was he full of him-self? What do you think? Better yet, what did God think?
Let's just say, God has a way of humbling those who walk in pride. For a time, he lost his mind. Just think... When foreign lead-ers met the Babylonian ruler for lunch on the lawn, it was on...the...lawn (literally). Yet God was able to keep the Empire in tact in spite of an inept and out-of-touch leader.
And that's they key. Our God reigns! He rules and overrules in the affairs of men. Kingdoms rise and fall, leaders come and go. In fact, God allows the lowliest of men to come to power—sometimes to let people reap what they sow.
May we never place our confidence in the powers that be, but the Power that is. And always will be. Right-eousness exalts nationally, but only if we turn our hearts toward the Right One.
