There is much confusion today in the religious world about baptism today. Yet, Christ taught it as a very simple concept as something that represents two facets of our spiritual lives: 1. The Death of our old self of selfishness and sin, and 2. The Birth of our new self of selflessness and service. Baptism is both an end and a beginning. Let's look at the 3 essential parts of baptism, the right Person, the right Purpose, and the right Practice.
