In the closing part of Peter's first epistle, he provides some admintions that seem to encapsulate the letter.  That is, these directives appear to be linked to the main points of the letter, rather than "stand alone" points.  But throughout his message, a theme recurs: entrust your souls to God.  Jesus did it when facing the ultimate temptation and persecution of the cross, and the Christians to whom Peter is writing, as well as all since, must do likewise when facing our own temptations in persuction.  Thus, these final admonitions (of 1Pet.4:6-11) are as relevant today as when written.
