Are You Converted or Are You Just Baptized
The title poses a fair question. Although "baptism" does many things both for and to us, it is not necessarily synonymous with "conversion." Conversion is a "turning away" from our old self and includes "turning to" new self. Although baptism is certainly part of that overall process, it is nonetheless only part of it. The lesson demonstrates that true conversion must include a "turning" of: our minds- how we think; our hearts- inlcuding its desires, intentions, passions, and emotions; and, our purpose- thus, how we act and conduct ourselves. Without these being converted, baptism will have little lasting effect.
