Weeping or Rejoicing

Weeping or rejoicing- don't knowing which you might be doing currently gived the political turmoil of the past few days, but Eccl.3:1,4 says that there is a time for both (along with mourning and dancing).   Jeremiah was known as the weeping prophet for good reasons, cf. Jer.1:13-19, while the apostle Paul wrote what is considered the book of joy (Philippians).  One wept for the sins of his people and their predicted trials, suffering and captivity.  The urged his readers to "Rejoice in the Lord always, again I will say, rejoice!" (Phil.4:4).  Indeed, there are appropriate times for weeping and rejoicing.  But how do we know which to do?  Perhaps a little history lesson from the annuls of ancient Israel and Judah will help....
