Sermons From Our Minister
Stop Calling Yourself a "Christian"!
Words, no doubt, change in meaning over time and with cultural influences. However, if we are to "speak, as it were, the utterances of God" (1Pet.4:11), and we certainly should do just that, then we have to use "Bible words" in "Bible ways" and with "Bible meanings." The word "Christian" has come to mean many things to many people. None of which changes what the Bible indicates that word means. This lesson provides a simple definition of what a "Christian" is according to the New Testament, and points out several examples from modern usage that clearly contradict it. Overall, the sermon points out that one cannot disagree with Christ (obviously from whom the name derives), and still call yourself a "Christian"!
